Got in without reservation last night despite it being a Friday. The restaurant was filled up. Ordered for Penang curry with chicken, Pad Kao with mixed seafood and Pad Pong Garee which was a crab curry dish. Pad Kao is a fried rice affair and was alright. Penang curry was also a tasty fare, albeit I dread to think of the sodium content there. The level of spiciness can be adjusted to one's liking, which was a nice touch. The crab dish was the best. The gravy was wonderfully thick and delicious. We had also ordered 2 sticky rice. Ordered Ruam Mit for desserts which icy and not great.

The food seems to be on sure footing but the tables are not. Our table which could seat 3 on each side, was made up of 3 smaller tables which showed a propensity to slide with the gentlest of pressure.

Service was prompt and prices reasonable. The totoal including a bottle of water was Dhs. 169

i happily admit to being a total novice when it comes to thai cuisine, but certainly the locals rate this place very highly indeed, and on my visit last night (9/04/11), i can fully understand why.

the tom yam - we had the vegetarian version - was spicily(!!) refreshing with lemongrass, chili and ginger readily identifiable ..... i think one can order the level of spiciness to suit.

what followed was at least as good - thai fishcakes; deepfried seafood wraps; yellow bean chicken curry; stir-fried sweet and sour prawns; a vegetarian salad; a vegetarian tofu curry; sticky and plain steamed rice..... though i admit we only drank water, the bill of just AED 300 for all was stunning value and ditto quality, especially when compared to the usual rip-off tourist joints along the jumeirah strip which would charge 2/3/4 as much for (less than) half the quality.

incidentally, there are also stacks of vegetarian alternatives for those so inclined either by choice or religion .... indeed, i believe the vegetarian dishes are cooked in a totally separate kitchen for that reason

fellow tourists - taxis are cheap and honest here, so do not be afraid even late at night to flag down same! from say jumeirah beach hotel, taxi should cost you +/-AED 60.00
