Geez reading some of these comments on here, I think we must have gone to a different restaurant. We have travelled around the world and dined at some of the best restaurants in the world (we're going through the Top 50 at present) and Verre ranks fairly high on our list. Yes the decor could be improved but you have to understand why it is like that in the first place. That is the food always takes center stage! Forget stuffy decor, you come for the food.

We we're staying at the Burj Al Arab and had a good lunch there at the Jinsui restaurant. But dinner at Verre was something special.

The Sashimi entree was spectacular. Mains were consistent and desert was well rounded. Price was also very good with dinner for two only setting us back about US$350.

Next time we're back in Dubai, we'll put Verre on the list again as the alternatives in Dubai are not too great.

All in all was disapointed with Verre. The service was slack, decor was nothing special and I felt there was no atmosphere. We opted for the prestidge menu, was very impressed with the soup and pressed fois gras, but unfortunately the meal went down hill from there. Did not feel much of Chef Ramsey's influence. Would probably not go back

October 2007. Booked the Verre for a birthday treat for our friend, we were a party of six. Service was stuffy and unfriendly. The first three wines chosen were unavailable - poor show! The wine was then hidden away and I had to ask for a top up several times. Two of our desserts were wrong and when this was pointed out, there was no apology. I was told that I was only allowed 4 pieces of cheese from the board instead of the five I had chosen - petty. Once I had eaten my cheese the port then arrived - too late! Food was fine but nothing special

Poor show Gordon. Much better restaurant around Dubai at half the price!!

I dined in Verre last June and I have to say that I had the very best meal of my life in that restaurant. Having dined in other Michelin Star restaurants, I found the food and service second to none. I honestly cannot think of one negative thing to say about the meal. I was actually on my honeymoon and one of the waiters must have over heard me say something about it, as they brought out my dessert decorated with "congratulations" which I though was a lovely touch. The staff were so friendly and professional. We were made to feel totally welcome and looked after from the minute we walked through the door. The wine list is really affordable too, which is refreshing in a restaurant of this calibre. I really don't understand how somebody could complain about Verre. Highly recommended. This has to be one of the very best (if not the best) restaurants in Dubai.

I can't believe what some of the others have typed, I must say that I enjoyed the best dining experience of my life in the Verre. An evening is what you make of it:

Great Atmosphere

Great Service

Great Wine

Most importantly AMAZING food.

I visited Verre on 21/11/07 and overall the experience was a very positive. Food was very enjoyable - we had the menu prestige. I think it was very reasonably priced for the quality. Service was ok, but a bit on the stiff side.

verre, gordon ramsays restaurant hilton very disappointing, aperitifs nice touch but sauces too rich and disgusting.starter of scallops and pork belly, scallops very soaked in fat or oil, pork belly very good but the fat was very soft and not crispy.main course of sea bass and halibut spoiled by over powering sauces and too much sauce.service very good but once you drink some water the waiter is straight over to refill it , constantly interrupting through out our meal.unable to have desert as our meal was over filling.very over priced for a disapointing meal. 23/9/07 was our visit to the restaurant.

We went here on the last night of our honeymoon on our stopover in Dubai - we were staying at the Burj Al Arab and thought the Verre restaurant was much more reasonably priced - and we'd both read Gordons autobiography on the beach...!

We were a litte disappointed on arrival - for atmosphere and decor it is probably one of the worst hotel restaurants Ive been to - very average and we were a little sad that there was no buzz about the place on our last special night.

However that said, the food was fabulous - my husband took the 8 course taster menu (which I kept stealing) and it was soooo good. Dont have any complaints about the food at all.

The service was great - I can see how other tables were getting frustrated - but for some reason we were lucky to have a very attentive team and they took great care in explaining the courses to us.

Extra special treat came at the end - despite not taking coffee - they brought us the petit fours and the macarons beautifully presented on a plate with mini copper pots with Congratulations written in chocolate sauce on the plate. We were really touched at the thoughtfulness (despite the spelling of Congratulations being appaulingly wrong...!)

All in all - a good restaurant to try Gordons food but it is definitely missing the personality and charm of his London establishments and does feel like a money-spinning after-thought to his collection of eateries.

A thoroughly disappointing experience. First of all the dull decor of the restaurant surprised us all - it felt like we were in a hotel restaurant and I know that's what it is but other places have managed to do a much better job of creating it's own presence. We were then seated in a corner table where our view was of either the plug sockets on the waiter station or the kitchen door. We asked to move and the waiter said we should have specified we were non-smokers at the time of booking! I had not been asked either way when making the reservation. The Maitre'D was very courtious and found us a much improved table but we were immediately put on the back foot by the attitude of the waiter that it was our fault. It was then time to order the wine, the one we requested was unavailable so were forced to choose a more expensive alternative.

Despite all this we had really come for the food...the starters were ok but the main courses were not nearly good enough. Two of our party of four had the pork belly and both were returned. It was simply inedible, too fatty, over salted and completely devoid of taste (I know it is a fatty cut but this was awful). The Matire'D took our comments to the Chef who apparantly said that pork belly is supposed to be this way and it is a 'specific flavour'. I have rarely returned a meal and certainly did not expect to do so in a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, what's more I did not appreciate getting into a conversation with the Maitre'D about what pork belly should taste like. I am well aware of how it should be and this was not it. We both chose the Sea Bass as an alternative which when arrived was again far, far too salty as had been my wife's steak. I had enjoyed a delicious Sea Bass for lunch at The Beach in The Royal Mirage the day before which was infintely better. Appetite ruined we decided against a dessert or coffee and asked for the bill. It was no surprise that when this arrived it offered no acknowledgement of a meal that had clearly not been enjoyed by any of us.

Over all the biggest shame was that we had all been looking forward to this meal and all of us left with a bitter taste in our mouth and no desire whatsoever to return.
