Legends Steakhouse

We ate here on the recommendation of a friend who described their steaks as the best in the world. After eating there, I went back to my friend and suggested he tries a few more steakhouses before he makes such wild claims. In our view Legends was average at best - the steaks were good but not a patch on those at The Meat Company at the Madinat, or the Exchange Grill at the Fairmont.

The tables are so close together you can hear the conversations going on 2 tables away. We booked non-smoking, and were placed literally 2 feet away from a guy smoking the most obnoxious cigar on the planet. Bizarrely it seems that if you want to smoke a cigarette however, you have to go outside of the restaurant. Whichever genius restaurant manager came up with the idea that cigar smoke was in some way less objectionable than cigarette smoke needs to get with the real world.

We moved tables to a smoke-free zone, so that was ok. We both ordered lobster bisque as a starter, mine with brandy. It is the worst lobster bisque we have ever tasted, and the three miniscule pieces of lobster in the bisque were not what we expected either. The fillet steaks were good, but they undercooked my wife's and it had to be sent back. We didn't have a dessert and left feeling pretty disappointed. We won't be going back as there are much better places to eat in Dubai.
