Shoo Fee Ma Fee

I had been meaning to come to this restaurant for ages due to great reviews, but had never actually worked out where it was. We stumbled upon it whilst at the wine bar next door.

Due to our unconventional entrance via the back, we asked to see the menu with a bit of a grump response from the waiter. However, there were plenty of seats and we chose a nice spot outside where people were smoking divine smelling shisha and generally being pretty chilled out.

A different waiter was very charming and was helpful in helping us decide what to eat. We shared a Shoo Fee Ma Fee mix of salads, chicken tagine, mixed grill, veggie cous cous and fries. The chicken tagine and the cous cous were tasty, delightfully served in copper pots, and the rest was your standard fare of grilled meats.

The staff on the way out were very friendly and gave us a nice smile goodbye. The surly waiter was probably having a bad day.

I'd recommend this restaurant but only to have drinks, smoke some shisha, chill out to the duet of oud players and admire the view.

I was fortunate to have this restaurant recommended to me when I was working in Dubai last year and I took my girlfriend on 2 of the 3 nights she was over from the UK to stay with me. Suffice to say, we were both VERY impressed; the food is, quite simply, superb and when you then sit on the roof and enjoy a mint tea - the perfect end to a perfect meal :-)
