Ashiana

Rather naively me and my boyfriend didnt make reservations for Thursday night in Dubai. We didnt struggle any other night but Thursday night we could not get into anywhere for love nor money. We must have tried at least 5 or 6 restaurants including Khazanas, Pierchic, Tagine, Lemongrass etc and we were starting to despair. Then we rang Ashiana's and managed to get a table at 9 o clock.
It is obvious that despite the Time out awards they are missing the mark somewhere as when we arrived at the restaurant it was only a third full at peak time on the busiest day of the week. Saying that though me and my boyfriend had a nice time there, so Im not quite sure why they are not full?
The service was excellent. Really attentive and they seemed genuinely excited and keen that we enjoy ourselves and the food, nothing was too much trouble. The food was averageish but then as Im from Bradford which has some of the best Indian food in the UK it takes quite a lot to impress me. Id say it was equally as good as Khazanas though. The only thing I didnt like about Ashianas was that from where we were sat we had a really clear view of the hotel lobby so very much felt we were eating in a hotel, which of course we were but if possible I prefer the illusion Im not!
Overall I had a good night and some decent food at Ashianas and although I wouldnt make a point of racing back there I would definitely go there again, especially for the fab service.

The other day we (me, my husband and another couple friend) felt like having some good soup and barbequed indian stuff. Unfortunately we decided to try some new place rather than sticking to our usual (Mumtaz Mahal, Qureshi and antique Bazar). Ashiana has got some timeout awards so we went there. The restaurant was packed....mostly with non-indians. The place looked lively... (a bit too loud actually). Sorry to say but the live music was a bit out of rythm....actually hurting the ear at times. Then came the menu...... there were only two choices for soup - one lentil tomato soup and another lamb soup. The soup was different and decent. We ordered 2 chicken, 1 lamb and 2 veg starters. To our surprise the food was extremely spicy, the lamb was not cooked well..... the food over all was a disappointment. The service was decent though!

Having read the previous review on this restaurant I was a litle concerned - however the previous writer obviously had a bit of bad luck. I went with my sister and my g'friend. I regularly eat indian food back in ireland and would consider myself quite fussy. However, I cannot fault the standard of the food in Ashiana. It was full of flavour , the meat was very tender and there was more than enough in the portions. The services was very good, polite, friendly etc . It was by no means a cheap meal but I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good quality indian meal. Ask for a table away from the band(live indian music is played throughout).

Me and my wife visited this restaurant on the 17th Of March 2007!!!!
Il tell you something about this place "Don't even dream of going to this place EVER"!!!!
From the moment we entered the restaurant till we left the service was absoulotely crap!!!!!!!!! The food tasted like it was one of them cheapy restaurants on the side streets of Delhi!!!! A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!! I mean the bill come up to 395 Dhs (110 USD), without any alcohol and for that kind of money i would have expexted a btter service and good enough food!!! I felt like Puking up!!!!!! And don't even talk about the Waiter, he didn't even know what day it was!!!! He couldnt understand or talk english and was in his world!! People who are thinking of going there be aware!!!!
And to add i left a negative comment on the Comment card yet no apology or a phone call to ask what was wrong!!!! If any of the Management team are reading this they can still call me .
Me and my wife have been trying out all the best indian restaurants in Town as awarded by Time Out Dubai and we've liked every1 single one of them except this one!!!!!! I REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TIMEOUT DUBAI GAVE THIS RESTAURANT A NO1 AWARD FOR "BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT"
