The decor is dated and the restaurant was in dire need of more bums-on-seats on the night we visited but we were undeterred from our quest for fresh seafood.

The menu is best deciphered by taking a stroll to the counter, where you can choose from a range of fish and shellfish which is charged by weight. There is a choice to either "grill" or deep-fry your selected catch. Expect to find a replenished basket of fluffy warm bread, a mini forest of salad and pickles with various Arabic dips on your return to the table to keep you going as you wait for the kitchen to prepare your order.

The waiting time would have suggested that the restaurant was busier than the 3 occupied tables during our visit. We'd prefer not to find out how it copes with orders during genuinely busy times! Our orders arrived 45mins later, with each type of fish/ shellfish coming on its own platter. Unfortunately, my request to have everything grilled without oil was ignored as the squid and butterflied prawns arrived coated with chilli butter and each clam was swimming in the stuff. The orders which were deep fried did a little better on the satisfaction scores as they arrived with a crispy batter coating, but the gratuitous French fries which accompanied the arrival of the seafood were cold, dry and withered. Come here for a high volume of seafood:dirham ratio, but not much else.
